The Tale Of

Decided to get a new phone before I leave Singapore since my previous Samsung Ace was (almost) permanently cranky and its battery life depletes faster than the running speed of Usain Bolt. And yes, I'm sticking to Samsung! So the Galaxy S3 is my new baby now. Be good and last me through the next 2 years or more, okay?

The Singapore Heartbeat

Happy Birthday Singapore! This year's National Day feels quite different, probably because school's out for me. I remember when National Day simply meant a half-day school celebration and a public holiday that follows, but this year, I didn't even realise that it was coming until the previous night. I also remember how I used to complain about not having a red shirt in my wardrobe to wear to school since we were 'highly encouraged' to do so, lol. And this year, even though I wasn't asked to, I wore a red top just because I wanted to. :)

... Maroon is also a shade of red ok?!
Kind of miss reciting the pledge every morning.
The speakers were playing some old National Day songs and before I knew it, I was singing along to it. Like omg, I was just suddenly reminded of those days in primary school where we held on to those lyrics booklets and sang for endless assembly sessions before the actual day comes. I heard 'Where I Belong', 'Together', and everyone's all time favourite - 'Home'. :') These old songs are really, the bestestestest, surely I'm not the only one who feels this way! To be honest, I lost track of the new NDP songs before/after 'What Do You See'... not to mention this year's, lol.

Then we came scross this group of Singaporeans and foreigners playing this game (I forgot its name) I played once at one of the Chingay trainings as an ice-breaker game. This... game involving chicks and hens or something? Haha. And gosh, they were having so much among themselves that I just stood there and watched them for a few minutes. Not sure what it was for but I love how these foreigners were totally into it, especially that tall guy wearing a white sleeved shirt with a red jacket tied around his neck, which actually looks more like a red scarf from the front. :D

How precious is this!? (And oh,  white iPad with a red cover? Totally doing it right. :3)

And tadaaaa, here's the highlight of the day (night) - fireworks! Glad we managed to catch it after dinner. They're spectacular, especially when you're watching it with a whole bunch of people, maybe even with the entire country. But what's precious isn't the fireworks, I mean yeah we rarely get that in Singapore compared to other countries but we still get to see it once or twice every year. What's precious to me, was the atmosphere which made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. :') Don't know why but at that moment I felt so proud to have grown up on this piece of land I was stepping on.

Not trying to be a cheesy-patriotic-model-citizen-wannabe. All I'm trying to say is... I'll probably miss this place a lot when I'm away. I'm not yet sure how much, but I most definitely will. :(

D-20 (approx.) already.
Oh dear :'s

“The heart has its reasons which reason knows not.”

1 & 2. Yogurt with fruity pebbles for breakfast / 3. Got my first ASOS parcel! / 4. Some random things bought in July

---

Sometimes I confuse myself as much as the world confuses me. Like, if someone actually asked me why I did something, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't know the answer. Maybe I'd manage to come up with something politcally correct or disgustingly fake, but deep inside, I would still know that wasn't what I really wanted to express.

Even little things like these bother me: I'm not sure if I had yogurt with fruity pebbles because I like yogurt more, or fruity pebbles; I'm not sure if I buy discounted items because I really liked them or more due to the fact they were cheaper than usual; I'm not sure if receiving parcels makes me happy because I'm excited about my online purchases or merely due to the joy I find in receiving and unwrapping parcels, including presents.

The thing is, how does it even feel like to be sure of something...?
So sure that you don't own anyone an explanation because you know what you're doing. So sure that you don't question yourself when you're bathing if this was the right thing to do. So sure that... you'll be sure of it even when the entire world says no right in your face. How much courage would all these take?

(x)
I cannot wait. I can't wait for the day I meet someone I'm sure of. I can't wait to find something I'm absolutely sure of doing. I can't wait for the day I can finally stop dealing with self-doubt and worrying about possible regrets unnecessarily.

Most importantly, I can't wait for the day I wake up and feel sure of myself.
I think it's coming... I can smell it. :)

Good Food For A Good Cause

One of the most joyful things in life is to discover something pleasant, completely unplanned and unexpected. I think people call them 'pleasant surprises'? :) Was walking around The Central in search of a cafe to chill at while waiting for a dinner date with my mum and two family friends, but Starbucks' crowd totally put me off and Broun cafe, which was nearby, was closed. Such bad luck grrrrrr.

Then I came across Real Food and immediately got attracted by its spacious interior and unique concept of cafe + grocer + mini bookstore, all in one!

Figured they're not so much of a cafe meant for coffee lovers since they only have one type of coffee on their menu :( But the special thing is, it's organic! After spending 2 hours or so reading on the comfy sofa seat, I decided to call and cancel my previous restaurant reservation and have dinner here instead. Yay to a healthier meal with organic ingredients!

Magazines for browsing.
Signature Brown Rice Set
Dumpling Soup
Classic Green Salad
Mushroom Bruschette (yum!)
100% pure juices with no ice/sugar/water added (Y) I ordered Celery Carrot Pineapple juice!
Mushroom Aglio Olio
Mushroom Tomato Pasta
Chocolate Hazelnut Cake!
Apple Pie
It took me awhile after the meal to realise that this was a meat free restaurant... slow, I know. But it didn't make the meal any less yummy even for an omnivore like me hehe. It was supposed to be my treat, but I felt like I was the one who ate the most... but then again, 'at Real Food, all our meals, dressings and sauces are made from scratch using basic organic ingredients. Absolutely no artificially processed ingredients, preservatives, trans-fats and colouring landing onto your plate and into your stomach.' Yes I grabbed that from their website but my point is, that makes me feel a lot less guilty :p

Spreading the indie love :)
Amen!

A Little Trip Up The Hill pt. 3

It's really nice to have someone to take pictures with, and also take pictures of. And in this case, she is my best friend. :) As much as I wish to appear in gorgeous photoshoots like models do, I know I'm a horribly stiff person when facing a camera lens... so I guess it's best I stay behind the camera. Not that I mind though, heh.
